Greenwell Point - Shoalhaven

Greenwell Point is about 13km east of Nowra and about 3 hours drive south from the centre of Sydney.

Greenwell Point has a spread out shopping strip containing in it essentials like a general stores, a pharmacy, bottle shop, butchery and bakery.

Daily public transport by bus is available into Nowra (roughly 15 minutes). Live music is available on weekends at the Greenwell Point Hotel.

Greenwell Point is known for its great fishing spots and for where to buy fresh seafood in the morning from the trawlers that arrive early morning with their catch.The restaurant, the Pelican Rocks, is known Australia-wide for its quality restaurant standard seafood dishes.

The Shoalhaven News of 1871 published the reminiscences of Alexander Berry and William Lovegrove, and they stated that this town was named after local resident Greenwell, an Aboriginal doctor able to cure toothache by mesmeric passes, but his main claim to fame was his ability to stop a person from dying from a snakebite.
